I’m incredibly excited about this role and my head is already buzzing with the creative possibilities of leveraging Uber’s brand and partners to spark wonder.
It is my futurist search to find the space to grow, autonomy, ownership and my purpose-driven goal of having a positive impact on human behavior through innovation, creativity, and design that is making my heart beat like a drum for this opportunity. More than a company, I see Uber as a mindset -a futurist one- that proved that creative use of data can change the status quo.
I want to help shape a brand basing our decisions on its ethical human purpose, ability to play well with others (partnerships/collaboration) and potential, not just for growth, but it's capacity to make life better and easier for all humans. This will make us feel good about ourselves, yes, but it will also help create positive brand perception, top-of-mind awareness, and loyalty. We reap what we sow.
I look forward to having the focus and accessibility/depth to leverage more of my brands’ opportunities and challenges beyond just current business objectives -to stay ahead, make a difference and set new creative and craft quality standards.
Additionally, I strongly believe that empathy (we’re all working towards the same goal), curiosity, collaboration, adaptability, and respect, applied with forethought, goal-oriented statements are key when navigating the nuanced strategic and cultural challenges of communicating with layered stakeholders involved in global work. These values can help create trust and bonds needed to develop and execute work that not only meets business objectives but is authentic to local regions and the global brands involved. All while maintaining the core ideas and a consistent brand identity.
From tone to styling, the smallest details can have a big impact on how we are perceived by users and stakeholders to be addressing the sense of safety, being heard and connection we want them to feel with us. In the end, our goal should be to generate that feeling of encountering a friend in a crowd.
I undeniably love what I do. I’m one of the lucky few that is doing what he always wanted to do when growing up. The thing is that my experience and growth have changed my perception of advertising. As I identify, shape and come up with my own principles and points of view, advertising agencies are starting to feel like that favorite shirt that’s getting a bit too tight. Limiting. I now see that Advertising is an expression of something more powerful. Just like tech, UX, product design, and other fields -all expressions of the power of creativity and force of human nature to ignite change.
(Plus, my family is 2 hours away from Amsterdam and I haven’t been this close to them in a decade since I left Venezuela.) :)
I’m excited about all we can achieve together driving Uber to its full potential. Especially when this also means shaping our world to ethical futuristic ideals.
